An Invasion of Garapatas

Arrived home yesterday. Back to the farm…..and, yikes, an invasion of ticks (garapatas in Spanish), not just on Rambo but in bedroom, bathroom, living room, etc. Roberto has been picking them off Rambo every morning and bathing him with special shampoo. We have to get some more of that Frontline-type stuff to put on him. I slept in Mom’s old bedroom last night after I sprayed our bedroom with insecticide, especially for ticks. I don’t want them jumping on me. Roberto said the invasion is due to the cattle that they moved next door but I seem to remember that they come in waves like this and eventually move on. I hope ours move on quickly. The downside is that there are so many tick-borne diseases. Rambo has been vaccinated against them but Roberto and I have not. The upside is that we don’t have any mosquitoes right now. Could it be that ticks and mosquitoes aren’t compatible? (Just kidding.)

It is tick season and we have them too; opps, maybe I should clarify: the doggies have them but the people don’t. I think being vigilant is the only way to make sure that everyone stays healthy.

Aren’t they kind of cute? Just kidding! Hope yours go on their way soon. Glad Rambo is protected.
